Get Comfort and Style with Vionic Footwear!

Vionic Shoes

Staying in style and feeling comfortable can be a bit of a balance – literally. A study from Journal of Applied Physiology showed that women who routinely wear high heels are at risk for permanent physiological damage to their knees, hips, back and tendons – so those high high heels we love so much could end up presenting long-lasting damage in the future.

Celebrate International Comfort Day (September 28th) with Crocs!

Any Modern Family viewers out there? Remember that episode when the entire family went to Disney Land and Gloria was super grumpy until Jay bought her a pair of Minnie Mouse slippers to wear to trek around the park? He came to the realization that the reason she was oftentimes cranky was directly tied to the fact that she was not comfortable in her high heel shoes. And any woman who has ever worn ill fitting footwear can attest to the fact that if your shoes are not comfortable, it can definitely make you irrationally irritable.

But who wants to trade comfort for style? I'd argue that most women would rather suffer through the pain of wearing five inch heels {and subject those around them to the subsequent foul mood} than wear shoes that were comfortable, but not quite fashionable {and there's statistical evidence below to support that hunch}. I can say this because I was one of those women! I'd pick a pair of high heels over more sensible flats any day... until I sprained my ankle earlier this summer. It's much better now {for a solid two weeks + I couldn't walk on it at all}, but I'm still not ready to wear my beloved heels. Enter Crocs , a brand well known for their comfortable footwear, but now with an added focus on being stylish as well!

August 2013 Monthly Favorites!

August 2013 Favorites!

I had SUCH A HARD TIME editing down my favorites this month! I think it's because I've been really trying hard to use more products in general, and to wear makeup more often specifically. So here are just a FEW of the things that I've been loving this past month. {Some products were purchased by me and some were sent for review}...

Son of Mars

Son of Mars

I’ll admit it…I was one of those kids that just had to be the first in line to get my new pair of Air Jordan’s. I remember it well. It was 8th grade graduation when my sister bought me my first pair of Air Jordan 6’s, and right away I was hooked. From that moment, a continual cycle of trying to justify to my mother why it was worth spending $150.00 for a pair of sneakers began, and needless to say, my love affair with Jordan sneakers has continued twenty years later. Strange you say? Perhaps to some, but let me assure you that the Jordan experience is like no other. I’ve had many, dare I say elite sneakers in my day, but none have ever compared.

Fab Five Friday: My Spring ShoeDazzle Wishlist!

Spring ShoeDazzle Wishlist

I signed up for ShoeDazzle ages ago, but have yet to make a purchase. I don't know if it's just me, but I've noticed a distinct difference in the selection offered from the site since Rachel Zoe became involved with company. With each email they send out {and they come sort of frequently, but I don't mind}, I see more and more shoes that I would actually consider purchasing-not only have the styles offered seem to have improved, the quality seems to be much better as well! I received an email this morning with some suggested selections and fell so head over heels {ha!} with a couple pairs featured, that I had to check out the site again and see what else ShoeDazzle has to offer. These are my top 5 favorites {and trust me, it was super difficult to narrow it down} for the spring and summer!

My Week In Rewind...

(I'm not going to call this a new feature; it's just going to be what it's going to be!)

Sometimes, when I look at my day to day life as a whole, it can seem a bit mundane. But it occurred to me this morning (while luxuriating in the most wonderful bath of pink colored, jasmine and ylang ylang scented water, courtesy of LUSH's Sex Bomb), that if I dissected small facts and occurrences of the week, my life is actually quite eventful, and possibly a good source of entertainment for others (namely, you lovelies). So here goes...

Mary Jane (in my Rick James voice)

Mary Jane (in my Rick James voice)

I think my first pair of legit high heeled shoes was a pair of Mary Janes: they were black suede and patent leather, done in the style of an oxford/wing tip. They had this great chunky, stacked heel and I just knew that I was grown up when I wore them. I LOVED those shoes! Unfortunately, they were lost by Delta Airlines en route to Chicago, along with another pair of my all time favorite shoes-another pair of Mary Janes. These were a little taller, and infinitely more sophisticated; t-strapped faux alligator print in a gorgeous cognac brown. It's funny-I lost a lot of things in that debacle, but the only items I still remember (and this is over 15 years later) are those two pairs of shoes. C'est la vie...
