My Week In Rewind...

(I'm not going to call this a new feature; it's just going to be what it's going to be!)

Sometimes, when I look at my day to day life as a whole, it can seem a bit mundane. But it occurred to me this morning (while luxuriating in the most wonderful bath of pink colored, jasmine and ylang ylang scented water, courtesy of LUSH's Sex Bomb), that if I dissected small facts and occurrences of the week, my life is actually quite eventful, and possibly a good source of entertainment for others (namely, you lovelies). So here goes...

  • My hubby is one of the most spectacular men I have ever been blessed to know and it is a privilege to be the mother of his children. He is a native of New Jersey and his family still lives there. He has been totally concerned for their well being since the onslaught of Hurricane Sandy. He has experienced heartbreak over the destruction of the Jersey Shore: not only does the area hold precious memories for him, he often spoke of his desire to take our daughters there so that he could share that very special part of his childhood with them. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with everyone affected by the storm. Despite the emotional turmoil he is going through, the hubby has had 2 minor windfalls this week and he used these unexpected funds to splurge on the girls' wardrobes, invest in my business, and to surprise me with a little something special...
So, yeah... My husband rocks! (If you love them too, you can get them here)

  • If you follow me on Instagram (which you totally should be doing; I'm @mamafashionista), then you know that this week (on the first of the month to be exact), I issued a challenge to myself to take more pride in my appearance, or in other words, actually put on makeup and try to look good for aforementioned rockstar hubby when he gets home from work, and not just when I'm going to be leaving the house (which is when I usually put on makeup). Considering the fact that I am a SAHM, and we are a one car family, I usually don't leave the house much, so my awesome makeup stash is totally under utilized. I aim to rectify this by taking a picture of my bare face first thing in the morning so that I am forced to do something with myself so that I can post a redeeming picture at some point during the day. I'm not going to lie-I've only been successful at this two out of four days so far, but right now, I'm okay with 50% (it's better than nothing and leaves room for improvement). I figure if I can see progress with this, and I actually develop the habit of making myself presentable regularly (and having some good old, makeup fun in the process), maybe I'll transition the challenge to focus on my fitness journey.

The before and afters from the two successful days

  • It is on and popping because now I can drink all the coffee that I want AND get silly drunk too because we (I) am weaning the baby!!!!! It's a bit bittersweet truthfully; I love the bond that she and I  share because of nursing and she is my last little baby so it is kind of sad that this part of our relationship is over. On the other hand, I have been pregnant and/or breastfeeding a baby since September of 2007, so I'd be lying if I didn't say I'm so excited to have my body back!! And so now I can really put more concentrated focus on getting in shape, or just enjoy having full ownership over my own body again ('cause for real, I don't even remember what that is like).
I'm sure more stuff happened, but, for real, I can't recall-I'm really going to have to start writing the good stuff down if I want this thing to work (plus it would probably help if I didn't wait until 11 PM Sunday night to start writing it all). I would love to know what interesting things are going on in your lives! Honestly, my inquiring mind wants to know! Leave a comment below and let me know what you think. Until next time...

I saw this on Pinterest (I'm qsmith0812) and had to share...
