April Favorites: Mini Me Edition

I talk a lot about my youngest daughters {probably because they are at home with me ALL DAY!}, but I also have a 12 {going on 13 very soon} year old daughter named Peyton. She's beautiful, smart, thoughtful, and oh so creative! She loves to read, music, beauty, and fashion - so she may not look a bit like me, but in a lot of ways, she really is a "mini" me {I put mini in quotes because at this point she's actually taller than me}! I thought it would be fun to let her be more involved with the blog {in hopes that will quench her desire to be active on social media outlets that I think she is SOOOO not ready for} by doing book and product reviews when appropriate and sharing her monthly favorites.

I'm A Red Head Thanks to K. Logan Salon!

I very seldom go to a salon to get my hair done, but I was in desperate need of a hair cut {I was suffering from a severe case of pyramid head-my curly girls know of what I speak} AND out of the blue, my hubby voiced an interest in seeing me as a red head. I've been infatuated with red hair since I was a little girl {my mother used to color her hair red and I remember going to the salon with her when she got it done}, and I'd been trying to achieve the perfect shade of red on my own since I was about 13 {I started with Herbal Essence semi permanent colors}, but have never been able to do it on my own. When we got married, my sweet man told me he liked my hair just the way it was, so there was no need for me to change anything. The itch to try something new has been underneath the surface though, so when he pointed out a shade that he thought would be pretty on me, he set the wheels in motion. Then I was contacted about reviewing a new salon in Atlanta called K. Logan Hair Salon.  The timing of the offer couldn't have been any better! So after I made sure the stylist had experience with natural hair {it's very important to know your hair type and make sure that you and your stylist know what you're getting into}, I made an appointment for a cut and color.

My Current AM Skincare Routine

AM Skincare Routine

I'll start by disclosing that other than the occasional acne flare up and oily/combination skin, I don't really have any particular skin issues. At this point in my life, I guess I'm trying to be preventative as far as aging and wrinkles, and I wouldn't be mad if my skin tone was more even and my pores were smaller. I’m thinking about trying a few Dr. Hauschka products in the very near future. But other than that, I'm pretty easy!

Go Orange for Melanoma Monday! Sun Safety with Neutrogena...

I'm not gonna lie, until I had children, I honestly didn't pay much attention to sun protection. I guess I took for granted that my brown skin was not susceptible to the dangers of the sun. But all three of my girls are much more fair than I AND I am far more knowledgeable than I once was-I no longer mistakenly believe that those with darker skin are immune to sun damage. So I was happy to receive a selection of Neutrogena sun care products to review, as well as to have the opportunity to share some information about these products, as well as sun safety in general.

Mani Monday: Rough Around the Edges from NCLA's All That Glitters Isn't Gold Collection

Disclaimer: I am not a nail blogger or professional (so sometimes I color outside of the lines and my cuticles look a bit ragged). I am merely a girl who LOVES nail polish!

If you follow me on Instagram, then you saw my disclosure regarding my lack of nail polish posts lately: basically I've been slacking off because our dishwasher is broken which means that my hands are now the dishwashers and are thus in an almost constant state of not cute. {To compensate, I've been going a bit overboard with my pedis- I recently used 7 different bottles of polish on my toes, though you will never see that, because I will NOT be supplying photographic evidence of my feet. Like ever. Cause IMO, the only cute feet are baby feet. So...} I've been trying to get swatches of NCLA's latest collection, All That Glitters Isn't Gold for well over a month now {pretty much from the moment I received them to review}, but the universe has been throwing numerous obstacles in my path {severe breaks on my swatching hand, my failure to save the original, true to color photos of the swatches {instead of just the edited/filtered copies}, and the aforementioned dishwasher situation-just to name a few}. So I've decided to do three different dedicated posts to the lovely polishes in this stellar collection, starting with Rough Around the Edges!
