I'm A Red Head Thanks to K. Logan Salon!

I very seldom go to a salon to get my hair done, but I was in desperate need of a hair cut {I was suffering from a severe case of pyramid head-my curly girls know of what I speak} AND out of the blue, my hubby voiced an interest in seeing me as a red head. I've been infatuated with red hair since I was a little girl {my mother used to color her hair red and I remember going to the salon with her when she got it done}, and I'd been trying to achieve the perfect shade of red on my own since I was about 13 {I started with Herbal Essence semi permanent colors}, but have never been able to do it on my own. When we got married, my sweet man told me he liked my hair just the way it was, so there was no need for me to change anything. The itch to try something new has been underneath the surface though, so when he pointed out a shade that he thought would be pretty on me, he set the wheels in motion. Then I was contacted about reviewing a new salon in Atlanta called K. Logan Hair Salon.  The timing of the offer couldn't have been any better! So after I made sure the stylist had experience with natural hair {it's very important to know your hair type and make sure that you and your stylist know what you're getting into}, I made an appointment for a cut and color.

The beautiful entrance at K. Logan Hair Salon

K Logan Hair Salon opened in November 2013, by Akia Logan {the "K" is because her friends and family call her Kia} and is located at 1610 La Vista Road Suite 4 in Atlanta, GA 30329. Akia has been in love with doing hair since she was little girl, accidentally melting her Barbie's hair while attempting to straighten it with a clothes iron {a la Hairspray}. She made a slight career detour when she attended college to earn a degree in Business Management. But corporate America was not her true calling, so Kia gained her cosmetology license, and found herself doing hair on the side - for photo shoots, music videos, and women's charities. Eventually, she decided to leave the office and pursue her dream of owning her own salon.

The smile on her face and the genuine joy that she exudes as she works, gives credence to the saying  "if you r job is doing what you love, you'll never work a day in your life" {or something like that}!

K. Logan is definitely a full service salon. They do everything from the hair cuts, color {they use Redken colors}, styling and blow outs, to custom made hair pieces and wigs {something Kia is very passionate about from her work with women suffering from hair loss due to various medical issues}. There's even a makeup artist available! The salon is set up like a beautiful boutique {I wanted to steal some of the decor} or an intimate boudoir even.

The inviting waiting room at K. Logan Salon

Instead of having several chairs in one room, or booths for each stylist, K. Logan salon keeps it intimate by giving each stylist their own private room. So it's just you and your stylist each step of the way-no parading around an entire shop full of clients as you go from step to step of the styling process {because who really wants to walk around covered in a plastic drape with unkempt, wet hair in front of perfect strangers?}. It also makes the whole thing a bit of a bonding experience, which I truly enjoyed.

Here's my before {don't judge me}...

And here is the after...

I'm so in love with my new hair! She trimmed my ends {without sacrificing the length of my hair} and cut some curl-friendly long layers into my hair. And the color! It subtle in the shade, but when the light hits it- look out! I plan on returning to add some highlights for the summer and we'll be taking our daughters to Kia to get their hair done as well! My experience with Kia and the K. Logan salon has truly turned me into a repeat client {something no other salon has been able to do}. If you're in the Atlanta area, give them a call and set up an appointment: (404) 228-2765. They are trained and equipped for all races, all hair types, and whatever service you need done {even henna tattoos and manicures}! Until next time...
