GMYMO-A Healthy Snack the Kids and I Can Agree On

This post totally brings to mind for me an e card I saw on Facebook this weekend: it was something about a mom feeling no shame for having to hide in the closet to eat a candy bar so as to not have to share with her kids. I can SO relate to that sentiment, although I don't hide in the closet, I just resign myself to have to share EVERYTHING with my girls (I promise you, I have not enjoyed a single piece of food in it's entirety, in the presence of my kids in the last 11 or so years).

In my effort to get in better shape, I've not only adjusted my exercise routine (by actually having one), I've turned attention to my diet as well. I have a really aggressive and persistent sweet tooth and sometimes fruit just won't cut it. I love Jelly Belly jelly beans, Skittles, Starbursts, Airheads, Now and Laters, Mambas, Twizzlers, and so many more gummy, fruity candies, it's kind of ridiculous. Once upon a time, you could count on me to have a wide variety of candy readily available, but in order to better my health and fitness, I've really tapered down my sugar habit. But I miss my sweets!!!

Who knew that the solution to my cravings was a treat that I regularly purchase for my girls: fruit snacks! Not just any fruit snack though...

Wunderkind Reads: But I Don't Eat Ants by Dan Brown (Ilustrations by Kelly Fry)

"Koalas aren't called Eucalyptus-eaters. Pandas aren't called Bamboo-eaters. Jaguars eat Anteaters, but they aren't called Anteater-eaters!" insists a voracious young Anteater who will gobble up just about every food except for one: ants! This clever take on the picky-eater is full of wry humor and silly puns as the anteater takes us through the food he LOVES to eat, all while repeating the refrain, "but I don't eat ants." That is until dinnertime when his mom presents him with with a "fiery" surprise. The final punchline playfully depicts the often illogical rationalizations of young picky eaters in a way that will have kids and their parents laughing. {Book provided for review/feature consideration}

Soap & Glory Peace Hand Love Set

I've heard nothing but rave reviews for Soap & Glory, a line of  bath and body products from the UK. The packaging is adorable (it's pink and features real women from photographs from the 1950's, 60's, and 70's) and the product names are so fun and cheeky (like a range of Sexy Mother Pucker lipglosses and Clean On Me shower gel). I've heard such great things about their Hand Food Hand Cream, I jumped at the chance to try Soap & Glory for myself...

Are Your Kids Spending Enough Energy Before Bedtime?

When it comes to helping your kids get enough sleep at night, one of the most commonly overlooked factors is how much energy they’re spending throughout the day. Kids wake up full of energy and they need to run around and exercise in order to spend it. If they go to sleep full of energy, then they’re going to be tossing and turning around. They’ll find it difficult to even shut their eyes and relax their mind, so what can be done about this?

Slow Living Steps To Take This Summer

(Image credit)

Life does not always have to be frenetic, fast-paced, and demanding. Slowing down can help you appreciate the little things in life, find beauty every day, and romanticize your existence, all of which can make you happier and more fulfilled. There are numerous ways to do this, and they aren't all the same for everyone because we all have different interests and aspirations, but here are some ideas to get you started on making this summer simpler and quieter. Slow living is slowing down and buying fewer, higher-quality items - stepping off the treadmill and going at your own pace, resisting the present need to amass more and more goods, and appreciating what we already have.  Slow living advocates for a more considered approach to life, challenging the notions that being busy equates to being relevant, that being wealthy means more possessions, and that we must keep up with the never-ending demands of modern life in order to be effective.

Is It To Late To Improve Your Lifestyle?

Did you use to read these interactive adventure books when you were young where you need to a roll a dice or make a choice to continue the story? If you know what I mean, it’s more than likely that you’ve sometimes read ahead just to make sure that you are taking the best possible decision – some might call it cheating, but that’s not the point here. In real life, you don’t know you’ve chosen the wrong path until you’re already on it. Say you are constantly tired and running low on energy. Your lifestyle is to blame, of course, but at the time you didn’t know that it would have dramatic consequences. In fact, it’s likely that most of the things you complain about could be caused by a poor lifestyle choice. Identifying the cause of your worry is a great step towards resolving it. But isn’t it too late to change your lifestyle?

Plan Your Next Family Fun Night at Bowlmor Lanes!

According to the American Camp Association (ACA) the average summer day camp costs $304 a week, with for-profit camps costing and upward of $500+. As a parent, this cost can be overwhelming especially for a family with multiple children.

Family fun should be affordable - but the rise in bowling’s popularity has also coincided with a steep increase in price by some area bowling alleys, putting the activity beyond the means of many Atlanta families. Bowlmor Lanes has set out to change that!
