GMYMO-A Healthy Snack the Kids and I Can Agree On

This post totally brings to mind for me an e card I saw on Facebook this weekend: it was something about a mom feeling no shame for having to hide in the closet to eat a candy bar so as to not have to share with her kids. I can SO relate to that sentiment, although I don't hide in the closet, I just resign myself to have to share EVERYTHING with my girls (I promise you, I have not enjoyed a single piece of food in it's entirety, in the presence of my kids in the last 11 or so years).

In my effort to get in better shape, I've not only adjusted my exercise routine (by actually having one), I've turned attention to my diet as well. I have a really aggressive and persistent sweet tooth and sometimes fruit just won't cut it. I love Jelly Belly jelly beans, Skittles, Starbursts, Airheads, Now and Laters, Mambas, Twizzlers, and so many more gummy, fruity candies, it's kind of ridiculous. Once upon a time, you could count on me to have a wide variety of candy readily available, but in order to better my health and fitness, I've really tapered down my sugar habit. But I miss my sweets!!!

Who knew that the solution to my cravings was a treat that I regularly purchase for my girls: fruit snacks! Not just any fruit snack though...

The Welch's name has been built on the highest quality fruit, proudly grown on family farms. In this tradition of wholesome goodness come Welch's® Fruit Snacks. Every pack is made with REAL Fruit and REAL Fruit Juices, is Fat Free, Gluten Free, and contains No Preservatives and contain 100% of the recommended daily value of Vitamin C and 25% of Vitamins A and E.

We all know that heading to the gym after a long day can sometimes be a chore: you’re hungry, tired from a full day, and you’re couch seems pretty tempting.  It’s also not so easy to find the perfect pre-workout snack that doesn’t completely negate your gym routine.  However, as the “better for you” snack option, Welch’s Fruit Snacks want to remedy that problem.

Welch’s Fruit Snacks are fat free, gluten free and contain 100% of the recommended daily value of Vitamin C and 25% of Vitamins A and E, and therefore are a great go-to snack for the warmer months (especially when you want to maintain that beach body!). Welch’s Fruit Snacks also come in 80-calorie packs which are perfect when you want that extra little bite at the beach, but don’t want all the packed-in calories that chips and dip will add to your day. Should you be looking for something with a little something extra, you can test out the newly launched tangy fruit snacks. Welch’s Fruit Snacks also comes in a single-serving, 80 calorie pack – perfect for run-to-the-gym snacking.

These are the perfect snack for someone trying to kick the candy habit like me! Problem is, I literally have to sneak them away from my kids, otherwise there'd be none left for me. We love the Fruit Punch, Grape, and Mixed Fruit varieties, but I think next time I'll try the new Tangy Fruits. With flavors like tangerine, lemon, pink grapefruit, cran-grape, cherry, and green apple my mouth is watering just thinking about them and maybe the flavor palate is a bit more sophisticated than what my little ones care for (wishful thinking, I know).

So it seems that this time, I'll be taking food from the babies instead of the other way around! I'm just glad to have a healthy snack that we all can agree on. What do you think of Welch's Fruit Snacks? What's your favorite variety? What snacks do you "steal" from your kids and vice versa? My inquiring mind wants to know! Leave a comment below and tell me what you think. Until next time...

Ciao, XxO
