2 Family Room Ideas You'll Love

As your family grows, you may spend a lot of time looking for ways to increase the number of bedrooms in your home. This might include loft conversions or dividing a larger room into two. But the children will get bigger. You could start worrying about how to provide enough living space for all the family. What works well when they’re toddlers may not be quite as practical for when they reach their teens. Here are two great family room ideas for young families and growing families:

Little Ones

When you have little ones around, you need plenty of floor space. Toddlers and preschoolers love bringing all their toys into the living room to play with. They can empty a playroom quicker than you can put it back! Look for storage solutions to give some of their favorite toys a permanent home in the family room. It might be a coffee table with under cupboard. Or maybe you have space for a toy chest in the corner.

Recliner seating can be a little hazardous for small fingers and crawling babies. Instead, pick low-level sofas for easy climbing. A soft rug will help limit the bruises from bumps as small ones find their feet. A large coffee table also provides a great surface for puzzles and building bricks. Not all parents like little ones watching TV. Consider a concealer cupboard so you can open it up for an evening relaxing in front of the small screen.

Tweens And Teens

As the kids grow bigger, you’ll find that comfortable seating is the priority. And big kids like to bring friends around to visit. A big corner suite could be the ideal space saver. But if you’re looking for something a bit more fun, why not look at websites like http://www.comfysacks.com/bean-bag-chair.html? Bean bag chairs are easy to store, and great fun to pull out when there are lots of big kids around. They’re quite a lot of fun for the grown-ups too!

Bigger kids love watching TV and movies. And they love to snack while they’re doing it. If you love family movie nights, why not invest in a console chair to hold the cups? A good coffee table could be just the thing for holding all those bowls of popcorn. You could even put platters out on there for everyone to dip into. By now you might also have hardwood floors rather than carpet. It makes cleaning up the spills and crummies a lot easier!

The family room is the perfect space for everyone to get together and do the same thing. You might be chatting, watching or playing. Perhaps you’re all doing something different, but you’re still together in the same room. When all the kids are in their own rooms, you can all feel a little disconnected. Make your family room bright and appealing to all the family, whatever their ages. And soon they’ll be enjoying the space with you.
