Curly Girl Chronicle: Luxor's The Wet Brush

Luxor's The Wet Brush (MSRP $14.00) was designed to "eliminate tangles quickly and painlessly." It also massages the scalp! It can be used on wet or dry hair and is suitable for all hair types. It features a soft, rubberized non-slip grip for a secure, comfortable hold and the flexible bristles detangle hair with ease.

I was excited to receive this brush for review because detangling time is not fun time in this house, so anything that purports to help make that process easier is totally worth giving a go! My first test subject was Lo {she has the most hair and is the biggest drama queen known to man, so she starts crying as soon as she sees a comb/brush}. She has 4a/b hair and unfortunately, even with wet hair and the use of a detangling spray/leave in conditioner, The Wet Brush didn't do much for her tangles. I think that the flexible bristles {meant to keep hair from snagging and breaking and massaging the scalp to stimulate blood flow} were just not sturdy enough to penetrate beyond the surface of her thick hair. So for her, I had to separate the hair into sections, go through each with a wide tooth comb, and then go back with The Wet Brush to smooth it all out. Her hair did look really good after all of those steps, so I'll probably do that from now on, but I was hoping that The Wet Brush would eliminate some of the work for me{not add to it}. Oh well!

Now for me and my 2c/3a hair {a stylist at the last hair show I attended corrected my previous assessment of my hair texture}, The Wet Brush is the bomb-it goes through tangles like butter! I prefer to use it in the shower after I've had conditioner soaking in my tresses for a bit. It has pretty much replaced my wide tooth comb. It also works really well {and quickly; a HUGE plus} is Kenzie's hair, which makes sense because her texture is closer to mine. I love that the brush has a rubberized handle; it makes it so much easier to keep a hold of in the shower and when trying to keep a squirming toddler in place.

Until next time...

    1. It would be perfect for your daughter's hair and yours (esp since I think you have a penchant for extensions; the brush is really good with wigs, extensions, etc. because it's super gentle).
