2 in 1? Try 3 in 1!-AKA: NYC New York Color City Duets 2 in 1 Lip Color

I know the saying goes, "You get what you pay for," but sometimes there are exceptions to the rule. Don't sleep on drugstore brands! For example the City Duet 2 in 1 Lip Colors from NYC New York Color. They may retail for a mere $2.99, but considering you basically get 3 lipsticks for that price, even the biggest brand snob can stand to give these a try!

The color on all for shades that I tried (423 The Hot Pinks, 424 The Madison Bronzes, 425 The Red Hots, and 426 The Waldorf Roses) was rich, creamy, and felt hydrating on my lips. The deeper shades cling to the lips with tenacity, while the lighter shades fade a little sooner, but overall they have decent lasting power.

The real fun of these lip colors is that they can be used in SO MANY ways. You can use either side for a single shade or use the tip of the lipstick to create a new shade by combining the two (thus the 3 in 1; the swatches show the darker shades on the left, the lighter on the right, and the combined shades in the middle). You can experiment with the ombre trend with the use of one tube by using a different side on each lip. Or you can use a lip brush to apply the darker shade of  the duo as a liner and then fill in you lip with the lighter shade. So many ways to play at such an affordable price!

NYC New York Color 2 in 1 Lip Colors come in 6 additional shades: 421 The Vintage Pinks, 422 The Cherry Blossoms, 427 The Empire Lilacs, 428 The Penthouse Plums, 429 The Cafe Cuties, and 430 The Rocka Fellas. At $2.99 a piece, they're definitely a great way to expand your lip color wardrobe. Until next time...
