Be Chic Literate: 100 Days of Cake and The Flip Side

My daughters and I have embarked on our own summer reading program - we each set a goal of how many books we wanted to read this summer {I picked 25, Peyton - 30, Little Miss Lo - 40, and my oh so ambitious Kenziekins decided that we should read her 60}, the person who meets their goal first will get the ultimate bragging rights and I'll buy them a book of their choice when the competition ends {right before they go back to school on August 8}. Lately I've found that I'm more attracted to titles in the YA genre, so I think Peyton and I may have to toss a coin to see who gets to read which of these new books from Simon & Schuster first! {Books provided for review/feature consideration}

Be Chic Literate: The Sleep Revolution: Transforming Your Life, One Night at a Time by Arianna Huffington

Arianna Huffington is the cofounder and editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post and the book was inspired by the day in 2007 when she collapsed from exhaustion and how that became her wakeup call. She wrote about the experience in her #1 NYT bestselling book Thrive and as she traveled the country talking with people, the issue that folks brought up most often was sleep and how they weren’t getting enough of it. Arianna – who after her collapse, learned how to prioritize sleep and went from sleep amateur to sleep pro – wrote The Sleep Revolution to help the rest of us do the same. In the book, she becomes our personal sleep evangelist, coach, and champion. She compiles the latest research about just how sleep-deprived we are, the havoc it wrecks on us personally and collectively, and uses the latest cutting-edge research and science to lay out a roadmap of practical tips to help us get to sleep. {Book provided for review/feature consideration}

Be Chic Literate: The Green Beauty Rules: The Essential Guide to Toxic-Free Beauty, Green Glamour, and Glowing Skin

When most of us think "green” we tend to think of food, household products, even our vehicles – we don't always associate "green” with cosmetics. Make-up artist to the stars and, most regularly, Jillian Michaels, Paige Padgett emphasizes that what we use in our beauty regime is just as important as what we put into our bodies since 60% of what goes on our skin is absorbed into our body. Her latest book, The Green Beauty Rules: The Essential Guide to Toxic-Free Beauty, Green Glamour and Glowing Skin, is a powerhouse of great advice this make-up expert applies to her clients and herself that readers can now access and learn how to become 'green' with beauty products. {Book provided for review/feature consideration}

Be Chic Literate: The Time Traveling Fashionista (On Board the Titanic)

The cover of the book is just the tip of the beautifully illustrated iceberg...

The Time Traveling Fashionista On Board the Titanic by Bianca Turetsky is one of those rare novels that appeals to both young adults (like my daughter Peyton) and grown ups (like me) alike. Between the engaging story and the lovely illustrations, not only is the book a definite page turner, it is one that you will want to look at over and over again! {Book sent for the purpose of review-but in full disclosure, Peyton had already read and was a huge fan of the series}

Over You by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus AKA: Be Chic Literate, Tween Edition!

This "Be Chic Literate" post is a little different, because instead of me reading the book and doing the review, I gave the book to my 12 year old daughter (a voracious reader). I figured that her take on this particular book would be more appropriate. I hope you enjoy!

The Runaway Princess by Hester Browne AKA: A Be Chic Literate Review

Between reading this, the return of Downton Abbey, and watching Mansfield Park, I've been hearing my thoughts in a British accent! After reading her "Little Lady" series, I've been a big fan of Hester Browne, and have looked forward to every new release from her since discovering her delightful way with words mixed her ability to tell fantastic stories in a very real life way.
