Smart Ways To Make Use Of Your Spare Room

By definition, spare rooms shouldn’t really exist! It makes no sense - how can you have a spare room in your house? Surely you should make the most out of every single room in your property, right? Well, we’re all guilty of neglecting a spare room now and then. I think we spend so much time and money improving the rest of the house that we forget about the spare room. Plus, it’s kind of nice to have a room that’s there just as a spare bit of space.

Nevertheless, you should take advantage of this room and transform it into something useful. Here are some simple and creative ideas to use as inspiration:

A guest bedroom

This is the most common way that homeowners utilize their spare rooms. Convert it into a bedroom for guests to use when they stay over. If you have family and friends that visit regularly, this is a perfect idea. Kit it out with fancy furniture from brands like Liberty Furniture to create an almost hotel-like feel to the room. After all, when someone comes to stay with you, you want to be sure they leave having an excellent experience! It would be embarrassing if all you could offer was a spare blanket and the couch.

A home study/office/library

Yes, I’ve combined three ideas into one - but there’s a reason for this! All three of these things are pretty similar and revolve around the same idea. Basically, you want a room in your house to get some work done in silence. If you work from home, this could be a home office. However, if you have children, this could be their home study to do school work in. Similarly, it could also be a library full of books that you can sit in and read whenever you have some free time. Regardless, all of these ideas are super clever as you take a spare room and make it functional. Now, it will be used more frequently, and you take advantage of the room that you paid good money for.

A getting ready room

I think powder room might be the technical term for this type of room. I’m not entirely sure...anyway, it’s a room where you can get ready in peace. This room will feature a dressing table, mirror, and all of your makeup. It could also be a mini walk-in wardrobe with all of your clothes here too. Effectively, whenever you need to go out, you can get ready in this room. If you have some friends over, you can all get ready together! It’s such a cute idea, though granted it’s probably the least practical out of the three. Still, this is my favorite idea if you fancy treating yourself to something nice. I mean, if nobody else is going to use the spare room, you may as well turn it into this!

Which one of these ideas is your favorite? Feel free to let me know, and also feel free to try them out. Remember, you spent a lot of money on your house, and the number of rooms contributes to the price. So, if you leave a room to collect dust, you’ve wasted a lot of money.
