Celebrate National Library Week & Drop Everything and Read Month with Princess Cupcakes Jones

Celebrate National Library Week and Drop Everything and Read Month! We are being encouraged to put our daily chores/tasks to the side for an hour a day and read with our children. Reading with your child is not only an important part of your child's mental development but your child in year's to come will remember those special moments you took with them to read together. {Product provided for review/feature consideration}

We took time to "drop everything and read" with Princess Cupcake Jones. She is the creation of national award-winning author, Ylleya Fields. Ylleya wanted to expand the market and make a multicultural mark on the world by writing diverse children’s books. While looking for books to read to her eldest daughter (when she was 2), Ylleya was struck by the limited number of titles featuring African American characters. Blending both of her daughter's images and personalities together, Cupcake Jones was created.

Cupcake Jones is a modern day African American princess who teaches children important lessons and how to deal with everyday scenarios in a fun and whimsical way. In her first book, Princess Cupcake Jones and the Missing Tutu her beloved tutu goes missing and Cupcake learns the importance of tidying up and putting things in their proper place. In her second book, Princess Cupcake Jones Won't Go To School, she delivers a valuable message about facing the fears of starting school. With the same gentle, rhyming cadence and vibrant illustrations, both captivating stories help children and their parents learn about organization, responsibility, sharing feelings, taking risks, and being supportive for new adventures.

As much as we love Fancy Nancy, The Magic Tree House, and Rescue Princesses, it is so nice to have a book with characters that resemble my girls and I - it makes the story more alive for them, since they can literally envision themselves in the tales. We love Princess Cupcake Jones and her curly hair and spunk!

Alongside writing Princess Cupcake Jones and the Missing Tutu & Princess Cupcake Jones Won't Go To School books, Ylleya also created children’s products to enhance the magic of each story. These items include Princess Cupcake Jones plush dolls, tutus, t-shirts, book bags and gift baskets which can all be purchased on their interactive website www.princesscupcakejones.com/shop.
