Smashbox Heat Wave Eye Shadow Palette

Smashbox Cosmetics Limited Edition Heat Wave Eye Shadow Palette

Smashbox Cosmetics is hands down, one of my favorite makeup lines, and they don't get nearly the credit they deserve {IMHO}. From primers in a variety of formulas to suit whatever your skin type or needs, some of the best performing eyeliners in whatever form you desire, and a serious line of color cosmetics that features a formula and shade for every one-I think that every makeup lover should have an extensive collection from the brand.

Two of my all time favorite palettes {the Click Your It Holiday Palette (featured here) and the Master Class Palette (featured here) and similar can be purchased hereare from Smashbox, so I literally salivated at the chance to try out their latest limited edition {I'm like Pavlov's dog when it comes to limited edition goodies} palette, Heat Wave

Smashbox Cosmetics Heat Wave Eye Shadow Palette (MSRP $48) is a stunning 10-shade summer palette that comes with double ended eye shadow brush that is actually usable {not always common in palettes}, and a huge mirror {it's about the same size as the palette itself, so it's actually useful too}. All the shades can be used either wet or dry {the swatches I did are done dry, with my finger as the applicator and no primer}. The palette itself is sturdy and compact-perfect for throwing into your makeup bag or for traveling with you to some exotic {or non exotic} locale. There's a QR code on the bottom that leads you to a neat "Get The Look" tutorial {or you can just peel back the label}.

This is the top row of the palette (the shades have no names, but here is a description of each): soft matte peach, soft champagne beige, soft matte caramel, golden pink, and gold)

The bottom row of the palette: pink beige with silver flecks, soft pewter grey, soft golden sea blue, shimmering purple taupe, and deep golden brown)

I found that all of the colors {with the exception of the golden sea blue from the bottom row, which was drier and took work to build up coverage} are heavily pigmented, buttery, easy to apply, and had little to no fallout {which is a pleasant surprise since a number of them feature shimmer or glitter}. There are only two matte shades in the bunch, but I think that there is enough variety of color for it to be a good addition to any collection. The colors are really great for summer-I refer to the top row of colors as summer sunrise, with the pretty golds, peaches, and pinks, and the bottom as summer sunset, with its muted silver, blues, and purple. You really get everything you need for subtle day time looks glammed up night time looks.

What do you think of the Heat Wave Eye Shadow Palette? Will you be adding it to your makeup stash? What Smashbox goodies do you already have in  your collection? My inquiring mind wants to know! Leave a comment below and let me know what you think! Oh, and stay tuned to my Instagram feed for FOTD's featuring this spectacular palette {and my other Smashbox faves}! Until next time...

    1. I have a few of the eye color trios in my collection too! In fact, I keep one in my makeup bag-it's small enough not to take up too much space, but those 3 shades pack enough punch yet are versatile enough to go with any look!

  2. I really like Smashbox cosmetics too and think the brand is underrated. I like the look of this palette and the colors are sooo pretty. I have quite a few things from Smashbox...the Master Class palette, Shades of Fame palette, and a few other palettes from them, plus a few lipglosses and lipsticks...So you could say that I'm a fan!
