Smashbox Camera Ready CC Cream- Why I May Never Wear Foundation Again!

I think I voiced this before in a MABB Weekly Beauty Question post, but I'm pretty much terrified of foundation, so I tend not to wear it. It's a combination of not knowing how to pick the right color, not being sure how to apply it so that it looks flawless or natural, and lack of practice (or need for) using it. But I'm getting to an age where I could benefit from some sort of coverage, plus it looks odd to step out of the house with my eyes done and my lips on, but nothing on my face! So I accepted the opportunity to try out Smashbox Cosmetics new Camera Ready CC Cream...

I'm already a fan of Smashbox's BB Cream {I listed it among my Smashbox Faves way back when}, and I'm a huge fan of the brand in general, so it should come as no surprise that I love this latest innovation from them. Just like with BB Creams, CC Cream is a makeup with true skincare benefits. It's like BB Cream with the added benefit of helping out with dark spots on your complexion. It features all of the amazing benefits of BB - primes, perfects, protects with SPF 30 - hydrates and controls oil, plus it visibly evens dark spots, sun spots and post-acne marks.

I love that it has SPF 30, because regardless of our skin tone, we should all be wearing SPF daily. It's lightweight and blends so well, even if you just use your fingers to apply it. I also love that  it comes in five shades {darkfairlightlight/ medium, and medium} so there's a better chance of finding your match and being on your way to more even, luminous skin.

You're treating your skin by moisturizing and priming, protecting with the SPF AND covering up flaws with the tint. I find that I can wear the CC cream alone for light coverage, akin to what you might find with a tinted moisturizer. Or if I want fuller coverage, I layer it on top of a primer, and add a bit of concealer to any problem areas. I honestly prefer it to most of the foundations in my collection because of the ease of use and the natural appearance it gives. I do find that for my oily complexion {and probably because of the SPF inside} it looks better if I top off the cream with finishing powder, but that may be because I'm super paranoid about being shiny. Really, the Smashbox Camera Ready CC Cream helps to create a great canvas for any style/method of makeup application.

The best part about the Camera Ready CC Cream is that you will definitely notice a difference in your skin's texture and appearance over the course of using it, which is pretty much the point of BB and CC creams, you're treating your skin with makeup!

Have you tried a CC Cream yet? Have you jumped on the BB Cream bandwagon? What's your favorite brand? My inquiring mind wants to know! Leave a comment below and let me know what you think! Until next time...

  1. I haven't tried either CC or BB creams yet. This one sounds good. I'll be trying either this or the original Smashbox BB cream.

  2. I have 2 favorite BB creams: Urban Decay Naked and believe it or not Salma Hayeks Nuance BB cream. As for CC I made the HUGE leap and got Amore Pacifica CC compact and although pricey, extremely awesome for coverage and ease of use for my 46 year old skin!
