As If I Needed More Reason to Adore Davines: AKA: Davines Sustainable Beauty Day (October 15)

How cool is the illustration on this packaging?!?

I have been HOOKED on this rich, creamy, delightful smelling butter for the past month or so. Davines Authentic Replenishing Body Butter is remarkable because unlike some other products that claim to multitask (but really only perform best at one duty), this wonderful cream works just as well in my delicate, curly tresses as it does on my parched skin (my oily face makes me wary of using anything on it that uses the term "butter" to describe it).

Made with 98% naturally-derived ingredients, this nourishing butter deeply replenishes both your body and hair. You can use it as a pre-treatment on dry hair before shampooing, or massage it onto your face and body for superior moisturizing.

But there's more to Davines than superior quality, salon grade hair care products...

Davines and The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation are proud to present the second annual Sustainable Beauty Day on Monday, October 15thParticipating salons will open their doors to offer clients cut and styling services free of charge. Each client will be encouraged to make a $15 minimum donation for the service, and 100% of the proceeds will go to The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation.

Davines’ commitment to sustainability spans from the ethically sourced natural ingredients used to create their products to their product packaging and commitment to education. Sustainable Beauty Day encourages Davines’ partner salons in the US and Canada – and their consumers – to support the worldwide efforts to plant trees at schools and communities with low-income families, ultimately providing improved nutrition and long-term environmental benefits. Last year’s Sustainable Beauty Day raised over $25,000 thanks to the participation of 54 salons in the US and Canada, and helped plant 6,000 fruit trees in Mozambique’s impoverished communities and at an orphanage in South Africa.

This year Sustainable Beauty Day 2012 aims to raise over $50,000 to fund a fruit tree planting project in Brazil in February 2013. The Foundation’s partnering NGO’s and civil groups in Brazil will lead an organized effort to plant and harvest the trees, ensuring that this will serve as a direct food source for in-need communities.

Please be sure to check the list of participating salons above, and if you find one in your area, stop by and get your free cut and style and donate to this worthy cause! Until next time...
