MAC Wishlist: Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Edition

MAC Wish List: Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Edition

MAC Wish List: Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Edition by mamafashionist1 featuring lip makeup

Oh MAC! I think the reason that it took me so long to make my first purchase from the brand was because subconsciously I knew that it was a slippery slope that would lead me to want to spend ALL of my money! Plus, I'm a total sucker for anything limited edition, so I'm forever longing for at least a few goodies from the latest collection (that seem to to be popping up faster than I can keep up with).

I was able to attend a fun little beauty event at my local Nordstrom recently, and one thing I learned was that Nordstrom was actually the first specialty retailer to sell MAC Cosmetics. This established a very special relationship between MAC Cosmetics and Nordstrom and so often times there are items available there that you can't get at other retailers-this latest collection is an example of such.

The MAC Illustrated Collection features bags illustrated (ha) by renowned illustrator Julie Verhoeven and expertly curated selections for any cosmetic enthusiast-from novice to pro. There are sets for lips, eyes, and even brush sets. I want at least one from each category :)

MAC 'Illustrated - Nude x3' Lip Color & Bag by Julie Verhoeven (Nordstrom Exclusive)

Bag includes: Cremesheen Lipstick in Creme D'Nude, Dazzleglass Creme in Natural Talent, and Cremestick Liner in Sublime Culture.

MAC 'Illustrated - All Over' Brush Kit by Julie Verhoeven (Nordstrom Exclusive)

The five-piece brush kit includes a #129 Powder and Blush Brush, #227 Large Fluff Brush, #224 Tapered Blending Brush, #219 Pencil Brush and #266 Small Angle Brush.

MAC 'Illustrated - Smoky Eye Black' Kit by Julie Verhoeven (Nordstrom Exclusive)

Kit includes: Three eyeshadows: Naked Lunch (Frost), Wedge (Matte) and Carbon (Matte); #275 Medium Angled Shading Brush and #212 Flat Definer Brush, Technakohl Liner in Graphblack, and Mini Zoomblack Zoom Lash in Rich Black.

Then there's the Electric Cool Eyeshadow Collection. I saw a preview of them on line, but in person they were totally different than what I expected. Instead of your traditional powder formula, these are a sort of cream hybrid, kinda like the Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blushes. They can be a little tricky to work with, but in my opinion, some of the colors are well worth the effort. There are 12 shades in the collection and I think I have it narrowed down to a mere 7 (okay, maybe 8) that I simply HAVE TO HAVE!

So do you have your eye on any of the exclusive, limited edition offerings form Nordstrom and MAC Cosmetics? I think that some of the Illustrated collection will be available more widely in the fall, but not all the items, so if you see something that you like, I'd suggest scooping it up before the sale ends on August 6th! Have you already had a chance to shop this awesome sale? What did you get? My inquiring mind wants to know! Leave a comment below and tell me what you think. Until next time...

Ciao, XxO

  1. I agree about MAC being a slippery slope! I feel like when something is Limited edition I NEED to have it.

However, I am NOT a fan of those cosmetics bags at all. I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't care for them! Maybe I Just don't "Get" art :P

    1. Lol. I think the fact that they are limited edition is what holds the appeal for me. I have to admit, if I saw these in the store and they weren't MAC and they weren't limited edition, I probably wouldn't give them a second look.
