How to Stay Fit When You're Super Busy

We all know just how important it is that we maintain a healthy body, but for many of us, it can seem impossible to find the time to work out. The fact is, it is not impossible at all.

For sure, you might be really very busy, so spending endless hours in the gym may well be out of the question, but that doesn’t mean you cannot keep fit. Sound good, check out what you can do to stay fit when you’re super busy below…

Walk more

If you can walk somewhere, whether it’s up the stairs to your office instead of taking the elevator, or to the corner store that you would usually drive to, then do that. The fact is, on short journeys, walking will take a little more time than taking an elevator or car, but it will help you to burn more calories and maintain a basic level of fitness.

Try HIIT

Hight intensity interval training can help you get fit in as little as 7 minutes, and just about everyone can find seven minutes to fit in a HIIT class that will work all of the major muscles and help them to stay lean and toned. How does it work? As the name suggests, HIIT classes get you working out at your maximum capacity, or close to it, which means it can be more effective in a shorter amount of time. It can feel tough when you aren’t used to it, but after a few classes it will feel more comfortable, and more importantly, you will see results.

Sit on an exercise ball

If you sit on an exercise ball when you are at your desk, it will force you to engage your core muscles, which will not only help you to tone up but also to burn many more calories than you would when sitting on a normal chair. Again it may not feel comfortable in the beginning, but you will soon get used to it and it will be an easy way to fit more exercise in.

Use waiting time to get active

When you’re waiting for your load of laundry to be done, do a few lunges: when you’re waiting for your colleague to get back to you in the office, do a little stretching: when you’re waiting for your spouse to get ready to take you out to dinner, do a little running on the spot. Basically, use all those spare minutes/seconds between tasks to get active. It might not seem like they would make much difference to your fitness levels, but they really do when done consistently over time.

Do a home workout

If you have time to watch Netflix, then you have time to do a home workout. Yes, you might not be able to fit in a trip to the gym, but you can probably do something at home, so make it a priority.

As you can see, if you want to keep fit, no matter how busy you are, you can do it!
