5 Fun Ways To Get More Fruit And Vegetables In Your Life

All of us know the benefits of eating plenty of fruit and vegetables. The nutrition and the fiber are essential for keeping our bodies healthy and running smoothly. But most of us struggle to get enough of these superfoods inside us. After much pondering, we’ve come up with the five most fun ways to get those yummy goodies into our diets and onto our plates:

Juice Bar

Just walking in through the door of these places makes me so much more healthy. I love the way that the recipes are well thought out. When you make juice or smoothie at home, you can never find that one recipe that makes all the effort and mess worthwhile.

A Juice Bar juice contains all the fruits you can never find at the store, and they taste incredible. Places like Juice Crafters are set up to make the whole visit seem like you’re doing your body a world of good.

Pizza

Who doesn’t love pizza? Thankfully, they can be quite a healthy meal if you make them from home. Use a breadmaker to make a gorgeous, soft wholegrain dough. Simmer away a tin of chopped tomatoes with a splash of Tabasco and a little salt. Add a garlic clove or two to taste, and a teaspoon of sugar to help it boil down.

Now comes the fun part. For your toppings, you can go mad! Pile it high and thick with all your favorite veggies. Peppers, sweetcorn, onions, and jalapeƱos are my favorites. You can add zucchini, pineapples, tomatoes or anything you like.

Soup

There are a few good soup makers around now. You literally throw in your vegetables and water and let it liquidize and cook everything down for you into a delicious soup. There are great recipes to follow, and you can even add cooked meat for something packed with protein.

If you don’t have a soup maker, you will need a blender to blitz the veg. Then you can transfer it all to the stove. Add seasoning and spices for flavor. Coconut milk is lovely to add some tropical tastes to a butternut squash soup. You can make batches and freeze it. Then you have a really quick meal ready to be reheated in the microwave next time you’re in a rush.

Mash

If you are a big potato fan, then why not mix up your mashed potatoes with other mashed vegetables. Carrots that are cooked until they’re soft are popular. Butternut squash adds some lovely texture. Rutabaga, sweet potato, onions, peas, and even butter beans can be mashed up with a spud.

Salads

Salads can make a meal feel summery. You can have them on the side, or make a starter out of it. The best thing about salad is it can be so colorful. You can use red and green lettuce leaves, peppers, tomatoes, grated carrot, and olives. Add some seeds and toasted pine nuts for an extra healthy boost.

With these great ideas, you can make breakfast, lunch and dinner more nutritious and yummy at the same time. Stock up on some fresh goodies so you always have something to add to the mix. For extra goodness, pick fresh food that is organic and in season. Delicious. Until next time...
